About Us
Paul Flickinger, Executive Director of Clean Water for the World, temporarily set aside his career in order to establish Clean Water for the World because "children throughout the world suffer immensely due to our world water crisis. Someone has to step up to the plate to help. It's my turn".
The inspiration for Clean Water for the World came from Jerry and Judy Bohl of Otsego, a small town in Southwest Michigan. In 1995, the couple visited El Salvador, Central America, along with members of their church group. It wasn’t long before the Bohls began to realize how many children in the poorest areas in that country were dying because their communities lack safe drinking water.
Jerry designed and built a simple, inexpensive drinking water disinfecting system which sanitizes up to five gallons of water per minute (300 gallons per hour). It is compact, easy to install and maintain, and runs on a 40-watt ultraviolet light bulb. It can also run on solar power, if necessary.
Clean Water For The World has delivered and installed these drinking water systems in El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Haiti, Ghana, Kenya, and Ecuador.
