Board of Directors

Jerry Bohl
Jerry Bohl (President) is a retired Tool and Die maker. While raising a family of 8 children Jerry and his wife, Judy have cared for 20 foster children in their 42 year marriage. Jerry has been a member of the Otsego School Board and currently sits on the Board of the Allegan County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. When not occupied with his humanitarian endeavors he enjoys traveling, fishing, and spending time with his 16 grandchildren.
Tony Romano

Tony Romano (Secretary / Treasurer)  is a retired information systems executive. A native New Englander, he has spent most of his 40-year marriage in the Midwest raising four children. As president of the St. Thomas More Salvadoran Sister Parish Committee he became exposed to, and interested in the issue of Clean Water. His association with Jerry Bohl, Clean Water for the World Board President, led him to his current involvement.

 

Sharon Tans

Sharon Tans, R.N., is a graduate of Hackley Hospital School of Nursing, Wayne State University, and a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the Honor Society of Nursing. A wife, mother of three and grandmother of four, she has traveled numerous times to Mexico and South America with various mission teams from her church, Third Reformed of Kalamazoo. Sharon has been involved with the Quichua people in the Chimborazo area of Ecuador, where a water purification system from Clean Water for the World was installed in the Village of Guijahon Alto. Sharon is a trustee with the Otsego District Public Library and in her spare time is passionate about spring wildflowers, rocks, and her faith.

Bruce Meles

Bruce Meles is a life long Otsego resident, Bruce with his wife, Connie, have two sons, Aaron and Nathan.  Bruce is an Eagle Scout, a member of the First Congregational Church, Otsego Lions Club, Otsego Chamber of Commerce, and River Cities Concert Band. He has sat on various church boards as well as the Downtown Development Authority for Otsego. The owner of two hardware stores (Bob’s True Value in Otsego and Gales True Value in Kalamazoo), Bruce has a 2 year degree from KVCC and a marketing degree from Michigan State University.  His favorite pastime is sailing.

Paul Flikinger Paul Flickinger, Executive Director, Clean Water for the World has been an artist all of his adult life. He is also an Arts educator, Arts Administrator and Fulbright Award winner. Paul has temporarily set aside his artistic career in order to establish Clean Water for the World because "children throughout the world suffer immensely due to our world water crisis. Someone has to step up to the plate to help. I think it's my turn".
